Oak Hollow Mall was a regional shopping center that housed approximately 80 businesses that were still in operation. Its occupancy had dropped to 11 locations by the time it closed its doors in 2017. High Point University owns the majority of the former shopping center structure. Oak Hollow Mall was a shopping center in High Point, North Carolina, United States, that was located near the intersection of Eastchester Drive and East Hartley Drive. It was demolished in 2011.

Oak Hollow Mall officially opened its doors on August 9, 1995. It was the second-largest mall in Guilford County and the third-largest mall in the Piedmont Triad, according to the American Retailing Association. When Oak Hollow Mall opened, it virtually brought the Westchester Mall, which had first opened its doors in 1970, to its knees. Following its closure, Westchester Mall was turned into Providence Place, which now houses First Wesleyan Church as well as a number of other establishments.

Oak Hollow Mall had a slump in the 2000s as many of its interior retailers, as well as its anchors, went out of business. In addition to dealing with the effects of the economic downturn, the mall saw a significant amount of its traffic shift to retail areas in Greensboro and Winston-Salem.

In order to accommodate the chain, the Dillard’s anchor closed one of its two levels and converted the remaining free space into a retail store. On June 1, 2011, another anchor, JCPenney, was forced to close because it was unable to satisfy the company’s new profitability requirement. Steve & Barry’s, which was formerly known as Goody’s Family Clothing, went out of business and was replaced with a contact center operated by Sears Holdings Corporation.

According to CBL & Associates, the sale of Oak Hollow Mall to High Point University for $9 million was completed on February 24, 2011, with CBL & Associates continuing to manage the mall. In a statement released by the university, it was indicated that the mall would remain open as a retail complex for the time being.

Announcing that Sears at Oak Hollow Mall would close at some point in 2012, Sears Holdings Corporation made the announcement on December 27, 2011. Beginning in February 2012, liquidation sales were conducted, with the final closing taking place on the last weekend of April 2012.

Belk relocated from Oak Hollow to the Palladium shopping center in 2014, where it opened a more modern store.

According to a statement released in January 2017, High Point University announced that the mall, which at the time had 11 surviving stores, would close on March 10, 2017. However, following the closure, a community center as well as the Dillard’s Clearance Center would continue to operate at the former JCPenney location. This is due to the fact that the last remaining anchor was still the sole owner of its area. It is also anticipated that the outside parcels, such as Target and Barnes & Noble, would continue to operate.
